Assistant Instructor is an independent course, but is most often run as part 1 of an overall diving instructor course. You can take the course if you want a taste of teaching diving, without having the responsibility of running, for example, Open Water and the like. 

When you finish this course, you will be able to: 

1. Teach and certify students in SDI's snorkel diving course
2. Conduct SDI refresh/inactive diver
3. Complete all the knowledge tests for the Open Water course together with an SDI instructor 
4. Assist an active SDI Instructor in connection with course activities, if you have completed the same courses yourself, for example the deep diver specialization or similar. 
5. Supervise and conduct dives with certified divers 
6. Teach various SDI specialties after you have received instruction in them yourself 

Entry requirements:

• Minimum 18 years
• Certified SDI Advanced Diver or equivalent; advanced certification must include verifiable experience in deep, navigation, night, and limited visibility specialties
• Certified SDI Rescue Diver or equivalent
• Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen provider*, where local law permits
• Provide proof of at least 60 logged dives, or 50 dives with a minimum of 50 hours underwater
• *Note: SDI CPROX, CPR1st or CPROX1stAED courses may be combined with the SDI Divemaster program by qualified instructors
• Completed logbook

We run this course as needed. It is posted if there are other participants. Contact us if you are interested!  

Program:
5-6 evenings with theory or
2-3 full days (ex. a whole weekend)
