About Apex XTX100 Controller

The first stage of the XTX100 shares the same technical characteristics with the higher end XTX200 and is made from a solid piece of marine brass, but finished in luxurious satin chrome rather than the polished chrome or PVD of the more expensive models. Features an innovative Diver Changeable Exhaust System (DCE). This system allows the diver to change from a small exhaust T-shirt to a large exhaust T-shirt. This gives the user a choice, wider exhaust tee for minimal bubble interference (essential for underwater photography) and narrow exhaust tee for a less compact, comfortable regulator. The regulator comes with both sets of exhaust tees. Active protection against infection: Additive that kills MRSA, protects against E-Coli, bacteria and fungi, also very effective against viruses, mould, yeast and algae. An optional 5th port is available which has the added bonus of an integrated heat exchanger (only available on Tungsten, XTX200 and XTX100 first stage).

Can be converted from a right-handed hose configuration to a left-handed one. The process of changing the regulator to a left-hand configuration is both quick and simple. However, this procedure may only be carried out by an APEKS authorized service technician. Braided flexi hoses are now standard on all models. These hoses are lighter, more flexible and more durable. Suitable for use in cold water below 50°F (10°C). Compatible with EAN40 out of the box.

Overbalanced Diaphragm Design:

The heart of any regulator is the first stage. Most APEKS first stages employ a unique overbalanced diaphragm design. In an overbalanced first stage design, the pressure between stages in the tubing increases faster than traditional balanced models as a diver descends to greater depths. This increased pressure between stages compensates for the increased density of your breathing gas by allowing a greater amount of gas to flow through the system as needed. The result is superior breathing regardless of depth. The overbalanced diaphragm design is found on the APEXS XTX100, first stage.

Environmental dry sealing system:

Standard on most APEKS first stage regulators is the unique environmental dry seal system. This system serves several purposes, including preventing ice build-up on the main spring that can occur when diving in extremely cold water. Dry sealing the first stage also acts as a safeguard against the ingress of contaminants and sludge into the main spring chamber and eliminates the need for messy silicone oil or grease filling inside your regulator. The Environmental Dry Sealing system is found on the Apeks XTX100 first stage. The first stage has four 3/8" UNF threaded low pressure ports and two 7/16" UNF high pressure ports.

In most other regulator brand second stage designs, the diver's inhalation effort opens a valve inside the regulator that is held closed by spring tension. The APEKS 2nd stage has a pneumatically balanced valve system, meaning that the pressure on the 2nd stage valve is "balanced" by allowing medium pressure air to pass through to the opposite side of the valve to help counteract the force of the spring. This reduces the inhalation effort required to open the second stage valve and significantly improves the overall ease of breathing in all diving conditions. This means that a dive on an Apeks regulator is a far superior breathing experience compared to other competing regulators.

Reversible regulator:

The APEKS XTX series of regulators can be dedicated for either left- or right-handed use. While supplied in a right-hand configuration, the hose routing can be changed from right to left or left to right by an authorized APEKS service technician. This extremely useful feature provides greater flexibility for those who like to configure their kit a certain way and sets Apeks regulators apart from other brands of regulators. The APEKS Reversible Venturi System (RVS) enables the diver to control the venturi assist with greater precision due to the reversible Venturi handle. The gas flow to the diver can be directed towards the mouthpiece by turning the venturi handle towards the plus position. This provides the diver with assisted breathing, resulting in a more comfortable dive with less difficulty breathing. With the venturi handle in the minus position, the airflow in the second stage is directed onto the diaphragm, which closes the valve and prevents free flow. The indexable venturi handle can therefore act as a pre-dive switch. When set in the minus position, the second stage will not float freely during the input phase or if the regulator is dropped into the water. As the diver begins to use the regulator, the venturi handle can be indexed towards the plus position and the second stage will provide the diver with assisted breathing, resulting in a more comfortable dive with less breathing effort. Due to its unique design, the venturi handle can be moved to either the left or right side of the regulator depending on the desired hose configuration, this work must be carried out by an authorized APEKS service center.

Various replaceable exhaust system:

Diver Changeable Exhaust (DCE) gives the user the choice of either a compact lightweight exhaust T-shirt on the second stage or a wider exhaust. By using the wider exhaust, bubble interference can be avoided, perfect for photographers who want to virtually eliminate exhaled air interfering with capturing that perfect shot. The exhaust fittings can be easily and quickly changed by sliding and locking the preferred set into place. Divers can now configure their own regulator exhaust diffusers for individual diving conditions or requirements. The regulator is supplied as standard with the Comfo-Bite mouthpiece. The regulator weighs 42 oz. (1192 g) and comes with an instruction book.
